EDM Mastering Service
EDM Mastering Engineer
With the explosion of EDM over the last few years, the amount of EDM producers who I work for has shot up 1500%. I totally just made this number up, but it's still high. The thing I like about working with EDM producers is that they really care about their sound, more so than hip hop producers (don't tell them I said that). As I traditionally come from engineering hip hop, offering an EDM mastering service wasn't too difficult as EDM and hip hop share similar sounds as well as methods of production (i.e. Fl Studio, Ableton, Reason, Logic, etc) not to mention similar acoustic dynamics (i.e. LOUD!).
How to Prepare EDM Mix for Mastering?
The most important thing with EDM is maintaining dynamics. There's nothing worse than when an EDM song gets to the beat and it sounds squashed and tiny. This is because the song wasn't mixed and mastered correctly. You want to be able to feel like the bass is surrounding you like a swat team and the kicks are actually kicking you in the stomach. The best way to maintain dynamics is to submit your mixes as low as possible. Okay maybe not -55db low, but you'd be surprised how good EDM mixes can sound when they are submitted at say -15db. So a rule of thumb is to submit your song for mastering with a volume level between -10db and -15db.
Can't Get Your Mix Right?
Remember great mastering can't fix a bad mix, especially when it comes to EDM. Your mix needs to be tight before you send it to master. Consider using our premium but affordable mixing and mastering services.
